How to Install GutterBrush Gutter Guards (No Tools Needed)

GutterBrush installs by hand — no screws, clips, adhesives or drilling, and nothing touches your roof. Most homeowners finish a house in an afternoon, most of it spent moving the ladder.

Safety first: use a stable ladder on firm, level ground, keep three points of contact, and never work near overhead power lines. Commercial installs should follow your site's fall-protection rules.

What You Need to Install GutterBrush

• The right size of GutterBrush — check the size guide
• A safe ladder (or lift for commercial buildings)
• Gloves and a scoop or trowel for the one-time cleanout
• A garden hose to test flow

GutterBrush Installation, Step by Step

1. Clean the gutter once

Scoop out leaves and sludge, then flush each downspout so you're starting with clear flow.

2. Lay the brush sections in end to end

Set each 3 ft (91 cm) section into the trough with the bristles filling the gutter. Butt the ends together — no fasteners needed.

3. Work around corners

Bend a section by hand to follow inside and outside corners, or run one section to the corner and start the next from it.

4. Finish short runs

Use the two 18″ (46 cm) filler pieces included in every box, or fold a section back into itself to make a custom length. There's no need to cut GutterBrush.

5. Over the downspout

Lay the brush right over the outlet. It keeps leaves from reaching the downspout while water drains through.

6. Test the flow

Run a hose at the high end of each run and confirm water reaches the downspout.

Maintaining GutterBrush Through Canadian Seasons

• Late fall: after the leaves drop, check the top of the brush and knock off any mat of leaves.
• Under pines: needles can catch in the top of the brush — lift a section and shake it out as needed.
• Spring: after the thaw, lift a few sections to check the gutter bottom is clear.
• Cleaning: lift sections out, shake or hose them off, and set them back in.
