Canadian gutters take a beating: maple and oak leaves in October, pine and spruce needles all year, then months of freeze-thaw that turn a clogged eavestrough into a block of ice. The 5 Inch GutterBrush — sized for the standard 5″ (12.7 cm) K-style gutter on most Canadian homes — is the simplest fix there is: a heavy-duty brush that sits inside your gutter, keeps debris out, and lets rain and meltwater flow. No tools, no nails, no drilling, and no more ladder trips every fall.

Why the 5 Inch GutterBrush Works on Canadian Homes

  • Fills the whole gutter: stiff bristles occupy the trough so leaves sit on top, dry out and blow away instead of rotting in the bottom.
  • Water flows straight through: rain and snowmelt pass through the bristles to your downspouts.
  • Nothing touches your roof: no screws, clips, adhesives or lifting shingles — your roof warranty stays untouched.
  • Bends with your gutter: flex sections by hand around inside and outside corners.
  • Easy to service: lift a section out, shake it off, drop it back in.
  • Keeps critters out: birds, wasps and rodents lose an open place to nest.

Which Canadian Gutters the 5 Inch GutterBrush Fits

  • Standard 5″ (12.7 cm) K-style and half-round gutters — most Canadian houses, cottages and garages
  • Aluminum, copper, PVC, wood and steel eavestroughs
  • Any roof type — asphalt shingle, cedar shake, slate, tile, rubber or metal

Quick size check: measure straight across the top opening of your gutter. 5″ (12.7 cm) = this product. 4″ goes to the 4 Inch, 6″ to the 6 Inch.

How Much 5 Inch GutterBrush Do I Need?

  1. Measure each gutter run along the eave in feet (or metres × 3.28).
  2. Add the runs together for a total linear footage.
  3. Round up to the next pack size in the table above, or combine packs (e.g. 135 ft = 105 + 30).

Example: a bungalow with two 40 ft eaves and two 12 ft gable-end runs = 104 ft → one 105 ft pack covers it.

5 Inch GutterBrush vs Ice Dams and Canadian Freeze-Thaw

A clogged gutter holds standing water that freezes solid, feeding ice dams and icicles at the eaves. GutterBrush keeps the trough open so meltwater can drain through the winter, and its black UV-treated bristles absorb heat on sunny days to help snow and ice along the gutter line melt sooner.

How to Install 5 Inch GutterBrush in 4 Steps

  1. Clean the gutter once and flush the downspouts so you start clear.
  2. Lay sections end to end in the trough, bristles filling the gutter — no fasteners.
  3. Bend around corners by hand and finish short runs with the 18″ (46 cm) fillers, or fold a section back on itself.
  4. Check after the first big storm that water is reaching the downspouts.

5 Inch GutterBrush FAQs

Will the 5 inch GutterBrush fit my gutters?

If the opening across the top of your gutter measures 5″ (12.7 cm), yes — that's the standard size on most Canadian homes. Not sure? Send us a photo with a tape measure across the top and we'll confirm.

Can I try GutterBrush before buying a full pack?

Yes. The 6 ft Trial Pack gives you four 18″ pieces to test on your worst stretch or over your downspouts, and the sizing sample pack confirms which brush size fits.

Does GutterBrush stop pine needles and maple seeds?

It stops leaves and larger debris well. Small needles and seeds can catch in the top of the brush, but they generally stay up where they dry and blow off rather than packing the bottom of the gutter. Under heavy pines, plan on an occasional shake-out.

Do I have to cut GutterBrush to length?

No. Each box includes 3 ft sections plus 18″ fillers, and a section can be folded back into itself to make a custom length.

Is GutterBrush maintenance-free?

No gutter guard is. GutterBrush cuts down cleaning dramatically, and when it does need attention you simply lift sections out, shake or hose them off, and set them back.

Will GutterBrush prevent ice dams?

It helps by keeping the trough open so meltwater can drain, but ice dams are mainly caused by heat loss through the roof. GutterBrush isn't a substitute for proper attic insulation and ventilation.

Where does my order ship from — will I pay duties?

Orders ship from our stock in Paris, Ontario, priced in Canadian dollars. No duties, no brokerage fees, no border delays.

Not Sure Which GutterBrush Size You Need?

Measure across the top of your gutter in inches or centimetres, or send us a photo, and we'll confirm the right GutterBrush size and how many feet to order — usually within one business day.
